Thankfully the majority of our patients have healthy teeth and few gaps to speak of in their mouth. But we do deal with many cases where a patient perhaps lost a tooth when they were younger, or their teeth have become less healthy over time and need to be fixed. In these situations we offer our patients a number of treatments:
A Dental Implant is a prosthetic tooth root, that is placed in your jawbone to hold and secure a replacement prosthetic tooth or crown
The crown of the tooth is the part that is above the natural gum line. When required we replace the missing natural crown with a prosthetic one, which is usually made of either porcelain or ceramic materials. The main benefit of these materials is that they provide a better natural colour match for adjacent teeth, making your smile look more seamless.
A veneer is a thin layer of material placed over a tooth, either to improve the aesthetics or to protect the tooth’s surface from damage. Similar to crowns, they are made to match other teeth in the mouth, so people don’t know that you have them.
Better known as false teeth, dentures are a removable replacement for missing teeth. Patients can need a partial or full denture depending on their requirements. Dentures are most commonly made of acrylic plastic but can also be made with metal and porcelain materials.
In all cases we only recommend treatment that we believe is necessary and beneficial for our patients, and this can only be done after a comprehensive checkup with our dentist.
